THE HORIZON

The blade of the fan locates on the back horizontally which makes the name “The Horizon”

The form and shapes  are inspried by Dieter Roms’ geometric design langeluage. By applying the idea of minimalistic, the only switch of the fan is the round bottom on the front.

The wind creates two blase on the cover that is placed horizontally on the back of the fan’s body. They share the same center but spinning in two different directions. The wind comes out on the center of the body via a wind tunnel.

Inspriation

The shapes are inspired by Dieter Roms’ Design language. It can be seen clearly that he uses geometric shapes as the form of the body.

All the edges are filleted to avoid tangles. At the same time, the filleted edges are not too big the, which makes the form soft. He added two thin layers on the sides with chamfers for the split line of the product. Two sides of the split line could be even or uneven.

Ideation & Form Development

Start with the idea of magnifying the function part ( fan blade) with different shapes and forms.

The blade may vertical, or horizontal on the side(s), or in the body. However, all the designs are focused on enjoying the spinning of the blade.

Main Structure

The main structure can be split into many parts and modularization. The form of the blade, and color option are all adjust able depend on the preference of the client.

04

Internal- Fan Blade

Inspired by the propeller design of the British fighter Wyvern S4. The two blades will share the same axle but spin in two different directions.

Internal- Wind Tunnel

The wind comes out via a wind tunnel through the blades.

The wind tunnel is located in the center part of the body. There are adjustable fences on the exit of the wind tunnel, which make the blow direction adaptable.
